Marine Development & Research Corporation (MDR®) was established in 1967 by Carl Spiegel to provide the marine and related industries with unique, quality products that would help boaters more easily maintain their boats.
From the first few fledgling products, including ABC Corrosion Buster, Whip-End Dip®, and others, our line has grown to over 100 outstanding products across several different product categories. Cleaners, inflatable boat products, teak care,
OilZorb absorbents, specialty products, and fuel additives make up the major
categories.
With the passing of our founder in 1989, his wife, Hope Spiegel, took over as President, while William O'Brien came on board as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The company continued to prosper, and in 1995, MDR purchased Amazon's®, the leader in teak maintenance products. Today, Amazon's still holds that position, and constitutes the bulk of MDR's teak-care line.
